History
Here again there is confusion as to the name of the vessel as it appears as the "Sam Shui" and as the "Samshui".
One of eight vessels jointly owned by "China Navigation Co". the "Hong Kong, Canton & Macao Steamboat Co." and "Jardine Matheson" to provide a service to Hong Kong / Macao - Canton - Wuchow (including Samshui and Kongmoon) which became Treaty Ports in 1897. Ownership of the The vessels was China Navigation Co 22/64, Homg Kong & Macao Steamship Co. 21/64, and J.M.Dickson (for Jardine Matheson & Co.) 21/64. and were managed by the "Hong Kong, Canton & Macao Steamboat Co." whose name they were listed under in Lloyds. The vessels employed were:- Samshui, Wuchow, Nanning I, Sainam, Kinshan, Tak Hing, Lintan, and Sanui
1899. The service commenced with the first two vessels Samshui and Wuchow each with two lighters for the Hong Kong - Canton - Wuchow service, but was discontinued as it did not prove to be viable. The Canton - Wuchow service continued.
1900, Sold to Shanghai Dock & Engineering Co as a tug, same name.
1918. Entry no longer listed in Llyods register.
