Biography
December 21st. 1938. Joined the China Navigation Company on Agreement, in possession of his 2nd, Class Certificate of Competency (Steam), No 78627 issued in Hartlepool. Appointed 2nd. Engineer on the Soochow II which was then employed in carrying rice from Rangoon to North China.
1941 Imprisoned by the Japanese occupying forces.
June 29th. 1942. The International Red Cross reported by cable that he was interned at Stanley.
October 27th. 1942. The Colonial Office officially reported his internment.
!944. On release from Stanley prison joined the Fatshan II - and as required, proceeding on interment leave etc. returning to duty on April 22nd 1946.
April 10th. 1947. Resigned.
Employed in Hong Kong, and is recorded as being Master of the Cathay Lodge in 1959 and 1967, died in 2000.
