Biography
Served an apprenticeship with Caledon Shipbuilding & Engineering Works, Dundee. Attended Dundee Technical College receiving five 1st. prizes and five 2nd. prizes.
March 3rd. 1931. Joined C.N.Co. as 2/E.
May 25th. 1938. Acting Assistant Superintendent Engineer, Hong Kong.
March 14th. 1939. Assistant Superintendent Engineer, Shanghai.
July 1941. Acting Superintendent Engineer, Tongku.
October 28th. 1942. Assistant Superintendent Engineer, Bombay. Between January and June 1943 stationed in Chungking, in the same position, then posted back to Bombay.
November 3rd. 1944. Assistant Superintendent Engineer. Transferred to West Hartlepool to oversee the building of new tonnage.
June 28th. 1946. Returned to Hong Kong as Assistant Superintendent Engineer (No 2). From May 1950 to July 1957, Assistant Superintendent Engineer on Harbour duty.
July 20th. 1957. - October 24th. 1962.. Occupied the "Staff Desk", apart from a short period from July 14th. 1960 to December 6th. 1960. when he became Acting Superintendent Engineer. Retired from C.N.Co. after 31 years service.
